Attica is a documentary film about the Attica prison rebellion in 1971. Attica was a maximum-security prison facility in New York. The film description is:

During the summer of 1971, tensions between inmates and guards at the Attica Correctional Facility are at an all-time high. On the morning of Sept. 9, it all comes to a head as Attica becomes the stage for one of the largest U.S. prison riots ever.
I'm putting the rest of this under a cut for potential triggers with violence, period-typical racism, and all the generally awful things you might imagine go on during a prolonged prison rebellion. The saddest thing about this movie is how relevant it still is--how you can see so many of the same issues from back then are still ongoing today, especially when it comes to prisoner's rights and police violence and racism.( Read more... )
